The Engagement

Okay for anyone who hasn't heard me screaming from the top of the tree tops - "There's gonna be a wedding!" After 7 years John-boy has finally gotten down on one knee and asked the lovely Kristi to marry him. It was a romantic weekend in Niagara Falls. They were running in a 5 K run. We were there to support them and cheer them across the finish line. It was pouring rain. It was a funny thing because Kristi thinks Niagara Falls is a very romantic place - probably partially because they met while going to school at Brock U in St. Catharine's and they do love that part of Ontario - wine, fresh peaches , all that water going over the Falls!! We had fun joking all weekend - I kept saying Niagara Falls was too touristy for my liking! We saw a car with "Just Married" emblazoned on the back. Kristi was all bubbly and warm - Johnnie true to form (much like his grandmother above in heaven) was saying - " Suckers!" We laughed - Johnnie got a smack! After we walked along the falls and got even wetter - (I was starting to feel like a drowned rat!), we started walking back to the car. We passed by a big cedar tree and Johnnie and Kristi stopped - they were kissing and cuddling. I said " Are you two carving your initials in that tree?" - they called back - "Yeah!" I hollered back " Now that's romantic!" Mark and I were at the car for a few minutes - I got changed into my dry sweater. We wondered where those two were. Mark looked back down the hill and said " they are still down there and they are kissing again!" A few minutes later they came running up the hill and Kristi was flashing My Mom's diamond on her left finger! Now to make it even more special - he called and asked her Dad's permission. "Cook' ( Kristi's dad) told Kristi's Mom Joan and knowing she wouldn't be able to keep the secret - she didn't call Kristi all week and Kris couldn't understand why! So the wedding will be in Sudbury at the Leore residence. What a party that will be!!! Rosie
